Terms of Service
Effective 17 July 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of QRtoad (the “Service”, at qrtoad.app), operated by Štěpán Růžička (Steven Rose), a sole trader based in the Czech Republic (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The service
QRtoad is online software for creating, styling, storing, and exporting QR codes, including reusable styles, static and dynamic QR codes, and a public API. Features available to you depend on your plan.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for any API keys you create. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
3. Subscriptions, billing & renewals
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly) through our payment processor, Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout. By subscribing you authorize us to charge your payment method for each renewal until you cancel.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You can cancel anytime from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and paid features remain available until then.
Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial periods. We may change prices or plan features with reasonable notice; changes apply from your next renewal.
4. Free plan & fair use
The free plan is offered as-is and may include usage limits (for example, on saved styles, saved codes, export size, and monthly renders). We may change or discontinue the free plan at any time.
5. Downgrades & cancellation
If you downgrade or cancel, we retain your saved data (styles, codes, and API keys) but paid-only capabilities stop working at the end of the period. We do not delete your content solely because you moved to a lower plan; you may need to reduce usage to stay within free-plan limits before creating more.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create (payloads, styles, logos, and destination URLs). You grant us the limited rights needed to host, process, render, and serve that content to operate the Service. You are responsible for your content and for having the rights to any logos or material you upload.
7. Dynamic QR codes & redirects
Dynamic QR codes redirect scanners to a destination URL you control and can change over time. You are solely responsible for your destination URLs. You must not use redirects for phishing, malware, deceptive, or unlawful purposes. We may disable a code or redirect that we reasonably believe is harmful or violates these Terms.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law or infringe others’ rights;
- distribute malware, phishing, or deceptive content via QR codes or redirects;
- abuse, overload, or attempt to bypass rate limits, quotas, or security controls, including on the API;
- reverse engineer, resell, or misrepresent the Service; or share API keys with unauthorized parties.
9. API
API access is available on eligible plans and is subject to scopes, rate limits, and usage quotas. Keep your API keys confidential; you are responsible for requests made with them. We may modify or deprecate API endpoints with reasonable notice.
10. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and brand, is owned by us and protected by law. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service; no other rights are granted.
11. Availability & disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that every generated code will scan on every device, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; provisions that by their nature should survive will survive.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law & contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, and the Czech courts have jurisdiction over any dispute — without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your country of residence. Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@qrtoad.app.
